At the MHRA and TSO, feedback is extremely important to BP. As a result, BP is rolling out changes to how multi-user licence holders access BP.
These updates will bring personalisation features, enable saving of favourites and simplify purchasing of BP publications and chemical reference standards. You will also discover new ways to stay up to date with the latest news from the BP and MHRA teams.
To provide more tailored support, BP has split this guide into two separate sections based on your job role: one for Licence Management and one for End Users. Please ensure you refer to the guide that best fits your role in the organisation.
End Users
BP’s first step in this transition is to update how they access BP online. Currently, some users share usernames and passwords, while others can access them automatically through their network. Soon, all users will have their own accounts. BP customer service will manage this process, so you don’t need to take any further action.
Once your organization’s account is updated, you will no longer be able to access BP online through your usual methods. At that point, you will receive an email invitation to join your organization’s account, or if your organization uses domain recognition, you will need to register yourself using the registration form.
If you are unsure which option applies when your usual access method no longer works, try logging in through the self-registration form or contact your organization’s license administrator. If you are unsure who your licence administrator is, please contact the BP team on +44 (0) 333 0917 023 and provide the name displayed in the top right corner of the screen after logging in.
This user guide outlines the steps you and your colleagues need to take once you have determined your enrolment method.
Please note: you will be asked to re-confirm your email every six months when you log in to ensure you are still linked to your organisation.
If you are accessing via OpenAthens or part of an academy, your access authentication will remain valid. The changes will be applied to your licence before the end of the year. BP will keep you updated as this progresses.
License Management
This year, BP is making changes to the way users access BP online, introducing individual accounts for each user, with access via their own secure username and password. This will allow all users to benefit from personalisation features such as favourites and provide access to the BPCRS shop and publishing outlets. It will also allow people to keep up to date with the latest news from the BP group and the MHRA.
When you renew BP 2025 online, BP will work with you to agree a date when your access method will change from a shared username and password or IP Access for your users, to an individual account for each user, with access via their own secure username and password.
There will be two options available for your users to associate with your account:
- License Managers can invite users by entering their email addresses.
- Your users can register themselves using emails that match the list of domains associated with your organization’s licenses.
To enable this feature, your organization’s account will also need to be updated. License Managers will be given a new password to secure their account, which will also grant access to the admin portal, where in addition to the above, you can:
- invite and remove users
- get usage statistics for users
- view license details
- invite colleagues as additional License Managers
This License Manager User Guide will help you navigate the new tools available. In addition, BP asks that you circulate this guide to your known users, outlining the steps they will need to take after your account has been converted.
