In 2021, IKA was once again recognized as “socially committed” in the corporate social responsibility awards of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The basis for this recognition is the voluntary initiative “HANDS for Children” initiated by Managing Partner René Stiegelmann. IKA’s retired employees have been volunteering in this initiative since 2000, raising funds for children’s support programs in Africa and Latin America. In 2019, a total of 150,000 euros were donated to medical care for disabled children in Uganda and to school education programs in Tanzania. In addition, IKA is involved in sports, cultural, social and church projects in their own communities.
With the HANDS for Children project, IKA has found a form of commitment that fits perfectly with its corporate philosophy. And the reason is: “we will try to support as best we can,” says René Stiegelmann, “if we act in the same way as we do in our daily business. By finding solutions, thinking in a business way and tackling things head-on.
After a forced pause due to Covid-19, the retirees have pledged to hopefully return to work for children and young people in difficult circumstances from September 2021 onwards.
